WELCOME
Welcome to all, old and new! :~)
Wow, this past week has been exciting! I've probably been a bit over-zealous with sending out mails too, and I apologise if you think I sent out too many. I guess I should learn to control my excitement a little better, huh? LOL
I've just been so happy with the way everythings working out this week, it's like pieces of a puzzle all falling together nicely and things are looking brighter and brighter on the homefront, and with any luck we might be getting a nicer house to live in very, very soon ;~)
I think the 2 things that have excited me most are my new conference room and the fact that I've now started selling the full version of Forget The Hype. As promised there is an affiliate program attached to it for subscribers of the ezine, buyers of the ebook itself and possible JV partners. So if you would like to buy the book, here's that link http://annamarketing.com/FTH. If you would like to become an affiliate Click Here
The affiliate program pays out 50% of each sale you make of the ebook, and eventually there will be more products added (if I can just find the time to create them..lol) which will also pay 50% commissions. The affiliate area is a bit sparse right now, but there are some banners and buttons there, and I do have 3 small classified ads written up by a professional that you can use. I look forward to us making money together ;~)
As for the room I really can't praise the conference software more than I have done so far without it starting to sound like hype, so I'll just repeat what I've said before: I LOVE IT!
The price is great for what it offers, and it has so many features that it's just absolutely fun to use. What impressed me most about it is the total lack of technical knowledge needed to use it, which is a mega plus for me.. hehehe.
Anyway, I'm hoping more of you will download my room here http://annamarketing.com/NJAEroom.exe and come chat with me so we can figure out some times that will be suitable for most members to drop by for a weekly "Get To Know Each Other" chat. I used to do chats like that in a different room environment when I first started the ezine, and they were very popular. They were always very informal, with everybody helping each other in any way that they could.
As you know, I'm a great believer in networking and building contacts, and I do believe my room will help you all to do that once you start visiting on a regular basis. Oh, and before I forget, there were 2 subscribers last night who won a free copy of FTH full version, and not the 5 as planned (all 5 copies would have been given away today, but it seems some of you may be a bit shy? ;~)).
So what I'll do is re-do the offer for the whole week. This means there are 3 free copies left, and you need to come in and chat with me sometime before next weeks issue is ready to go out, and your email address will be entered into a drawing for those copies. In the meantime, I guess you want to know who won last night, huh?
Ready? Here`s the names of the winners: Trish and Cheryl. Congratulations to both of you! I will email you your copy tonight.
So until next time, get those votes in, get those interviews in, come visit me in my conference room and above all...
Enjoy Reading!
May you be happy and prosperous in everything you do!
Anna-Marie Stewart

Five Stumbling Blocks To Successful Networking

And How To Overcome Them
The ability to connect with people is essential to success in any business. Professional networking events present opportunities to interact with others on a personal level and to develop profitable relationships. These occasions are critical for anyone who wants to grow a business or promote a career.
Many people are simply not comfortable walking into a room full of strangers and striking up conversations. Here are five common stumbling blocks that you may face and tips to help you overcome them.
A RELUCTANCE TO TALK TO STRANGERS. You were taught at an early age not to speak to people you don't know. It's not safe. In certain situations today this is still good advice. In business, however, talking to strangers is a way to generate interest and support for your products and services. If you only talk to the people you already know, you will miss out on opportunities to make new connections and establish valuable contacts.
To get past your discomfort in talking to strangers, set a goal for yourself before you attend any networking event. Decide how many new contacts you want to make or how many strangers you want to meet. In some cases, you may specifically target individuals whom you'd like to know.
Next come up with some icebreakers or conversation starters. Have questions prepared that you can ask anyone you meet at the event. You may want to inquire about other people's business, their connection to the sponsoring organization or their opinion of the venue.
LACK OF A FORMAL INTRODUCTION. It's much easier to make a new contact when there is someone else to handle the introduction and pave the way. If you wait for another person to make the move you may not meet anyone. At networking events, the goal is to meet as many people as possible.
This is the time to take the bull by the horns, walk up to people you don't know, introduce yourself and start a conversation. You can do this if you have prepared your self-introduction in advance.
You will not introduce yourself the same way on every occasion. Perhaps it is your first time to attend an association meeting. In that case, you might want to say that as part of your introduction. Let people know who you are, why you are there and give them a reason to ask more abut you.
FEAR OF BEING SEEN AS PUSHY. You may think that you will turn people off if you are assertive and that if they want to talk to you, they will make the first move. If this is your line of thinking you will find yourself spending your time alone at the reception or meeting function and leaving without a single new connection. Being open, friendly and interested does not turn people off.
You will not come across as overly aggressive if you seek out the "approachable" people. These are the ones who are standing alone or who are speaking in groups of three or more. Two people talking to each other are not approachable because they may be having a private conversation and you would be interrupting.
THINKING THAT OTHER PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE YOU. There is always the risk that the other person is not interested in you and doesn't want to meet or talk to you. It happens. If that is the case, don't take it personally. Nothing ventured is nothing gained. When you get a cold shoulder, smile, move on and say to yourself, "Next?"
HAVING YOUR INTENTIONS MISUNDERSTOOD. Approaching someone of the opposite sex to begin a conversation may seem more like flirting than networking. This is more of an issue for women than men. Women have an equal place in the work arena and need to make professional connections the same as men do. Women in business can no longer afford to hold back when there is opportunity at hand.
Neither men nor women will have their motives misinterpreted if they present themselves professionally in their attire and if they keep the conversation focused on business issues or topics that are not personal or private.
Whatever your stumbling blocks, face them before the next networking event and devise a personal plan for getting past them. Once you do, you will find yourself connecting with confidence and courtesy on every occasion and the results will be reflected in your bottom line.

Scams and Why We Love Them So
By Larry Brown © 2005 Centerex Inc

If you have been actively searching for a business opportunity then there is little doubt that you have come across promises of great wealth, easy profits and effortless rewards from unscrupulous scam artists. They can’t tell you what the program is all about, but for only a few bucks the sellers promise to unleash a system so easy, so dynamic, and so (shhhh) secretive that only a lucky few can capitalize on it…and you are lucky enough to be one of them.
We love these things. We don’t believe them, but we love them and buy them.
Why?
After all, we’re taught not to believe the hype, right? We’re taught that if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is…that there is no such thing as a free ride. But somewhere in between the words “Amazing” and “Click Here To Buy”, something happens. Two words infallibly infect the brain…two words that pull down barriers and dilute common sense.
What are these two dangerous words?
“What if”.
What if this opportunity is the one? What if this really is as good as they say? What if I really can get that home, luxury car and endless string of vacations through this opportunity?
Well, what if we laid some common sense on you? :)
First, any viable business opportunity will provide detailed information as to what it entails, what you’ll receive, and what to expect. A red flag should rise if the sales letter is vague, says things such as, “too exclusive to divulge now”, or if it requires you to pay for the full details. Sending money to an address that promises to teach you how to “make money at home” will be as fruitful as taking a flaming match to your money. The cash is in the details so make sure you get them!
Second, any viable business opportunity will have an ironclad guarantee. Now, there is a big caveat here. A guarantee is only worth as much as the person’s integrity behind it. A lifetime guarantee doesn’t mean that when you turn 87 and need some bran money that the company will still be around. Make sure you have a reasonable guarantee (anything from 30 days to a full year) and write down as many details as possible about the person you’re buying from so that you know who to contact in the event you want a refund. To further protect yourself, make your purchase with a credit card (not a debit card) so that you can enlist the help of your credit card company in the event of a dispute.
Third, take off the rose-colored glasses and read the offer objectively. Can you honestly see yourself making money with this opportunity or is your motivation driven by pure hope? Will you genuinely put your effort behind the opportunity or are you going to cast out a few feeble attempts to see if the miracle happens? Use your common sense and factor everything down to the details. Become blind to the hype and stare at the substance…is it still attractive to you?
If so, then perhaps you’ve found yourself a winner!
